As of now, GITAM Visakhapatnam provides numerous undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, management, pharmacy, architecture, sciences, humanities, law, and medical sciences. Some of the exam in GITAM are GITAM Admission Test for undergraduate engineering and pharmacy 12 th March 2023, GITAM Admission Test for BBA 19 th March 2023, and GMET for MBA 02 nd April 2023. The architecture aptitude test is scheduled for the 7th of May in the year 2023. For sciences, humanities, medical entrance test will be from 3rd to 5th April 2023. The selection process involves clearing one of the exams conducted by the university or clearing the national level tests like JEE Main, GATE, CAT, MAT, XAT, NATA, NEET or the state level test namely the Andhra Pradesh EAMCET. They can be downloaded online or collected from the university personally by the candidates. The admission will be offered after the candidates have sat for entrance examinations.
- Application Process: Admission for B.Tech courses offered at GITAM Visakhapatnam mainly starts in March/April for the session that starts in July. All application processes are carried out online via the university’s webpage or admission platform.
- Eligibility Criteria: For admission, candidates must have cleared the exam of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. They should have passed the 10+2 examination with an aggregate minimum of 60% for the general candidates and 55% for SC/ST candidates.
- Entrance Exams: GITAM follows its own tests for B.Tech admission, therefore the GITAM Admission Test (GAT) is conducted. Candidates can also apply for the admission process with their valid score card of JEE Main, AP EAMCET and etc.
- GAT Exam Pattern: The GAT emerged with the total questions of 150 which are segregated into Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology with total 480 marks to solve in 150 minutes.
- Selection Process: It requires short listing based on GAT scores or entrance exam scores provided for the qualifying candidates. This is succeeded by the counselling rounds for the final seat allotments with preference and merit, seats available and reservation policies.
- B.Tech Branches & Seats: GITAM Vizag provides B.Tech programs in various fields such as CSE, ECE, Mechanical, civil, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. Most of the leading B-schools have not yet declared the number of seats open for the 2024 batch.
- The school admits students from programs conducted by Gitam University through the performance in Gitam Admission Test (GAT). For the required percentage in GAT cutoff scores, candidates must past through the stipulated scores.
- In some of the programs, students can get admitted depending on the national level examinations such as JEE Main, AP EAMCET etc., and in order to do that, the candidate should have had the need ranks in the said examinations.
- To supplement this, candidate performance in 10+2 exams or any comparable examination is considered during the admission process as well. The candidate should clear the 10+2 examination with minimum 60% of marks taken together, with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as the main subjects.
- Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories are provided 5% relaxation in the obtained percentage in 10+2. 5% relaxation is also given to differently abled aspirants if the candidate produces the disability certificate.
- The counselling and seat allotment of the aspirants involve factors such as GAT/national examination score, 10+2 score, category, preference choices, and the availability of seats in branch preference.
- In addition to the conventional B.Tech program, Gitam has the flexibility of the direct admission to second year for the diploma holders in B.Tech, the criteria for which is different from those mentioned above.
1. Obtain a GITAM admissions application either from the university’s admissions website (www.gitam.edu/admissions) or from the admissions office of GITAM.
2. Choose an undergraduate program and discipline within B.Tech that you wish to pursue. GITAM Visakhapatnam has offered B.Tech in several engineering disciplines.
3. Complete the application form legibly and write all the details that are being asked – your personal details, academic results, etc.
4. Enclose photocopies of the required documents to be submitted along with the application form like 10th and 12th mark sheets, two passport size color photographs, etc. as specified in the application form.
5. Pay the application fee through online card payment or through Demand Draft.
6. Enclose the completed application form, the relevant documents and fee payment receipt and submit electronically, or in person, to the admissions office.
7. Sit for GITAM University Engineering Entrance Exam (GEEE) Examination.
8. Status of selection will be available in the admission portal once the results of the entrance exams are out.
9. All students who are given admission will be required to go through the necessary admission procedures and pay for their admission fees within the given time.
10. Kindly start appearing at the allotted department in GITAM University on the above mentioned date and complete the admission formalities.
- For the purpose of admission to M.Tech and M.Pharm courses, Gitam accepts scores obtained in several national and state level entrance tests which include GATE, AP PGECET, etc. The applicants must attain the minimum qualifying marks in these examinations.
- The courses offered in M.Tech. for the Visakhapatnam campus of Gitam are Power Electronics & Drives, Structural Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Digital Electronics & Communications etc.
- The application process usually begins in May over the year when the admission notification is made. The applications can be submitted online and also some of them can be downloaded and then sent by hand.
- The following are the requirements that the candidates must meet if they are to be admitted into the program: A candidate should possess a B.Tech/B.E. in relevant specialization with at least 60% marks (55% for reserved category) for General & OBC category candidates and Pass for SC/ST/PWD category candidates. This work is open to candidates who are in their final semester provided that they meet the above stated requirements.
- It is an assessing admission through counseling depending on the obtained scores of the entrance examination and performance in the qualifying degree. The university may also do an additional test in technical proficiency and interview with the candidates in certain programs.
- The fees for the M.Tech course differs from INR 1.5 lakhs to 3 lakhs according to the field of study. There are also various scholarships available for students as merit scholarships, need based scholarships etc.

- The admission process considers the candidate’s performance in the GATE exam or the Gitam Admission Test (GAT). The candidates are selected on the basis of valid GATE scores rather than GAT scores.
- For the position in the organization, the GATE qualified candidates’ selection depends on the scores obtained from a maximum of 100 in the GATE exam. There are annual cutoffs based on the programs and the categories of the applicants.
- In their case, a percentile score in the Gitam-administered GAT test is considered for admission as the candidate has no GATE scores. It measures reasoning ability, problem solving ability, and subject ability, etc.
- They also have to undergo an interview process before they are given a provisional admission to the University. It assesses such aspects as academic qualification, theoretical understanding, interpersonal skills, etc.
- Marking also follows rules such as seats are reserved for SC/ST, OBC, and physically challenged candidates as per the government policies.
- The candidate from the general category has to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in GAT or 70% aggregate marks in the undergraduate program for their eligibility. Here also relaxations are provided to the candidates falling under the reserved category.
- In addition to the above, there may be certain other conditions such as mandatory UGC-NET score for the students seeking admission in specific departments offering Research programs.
- The admission to B.Com at GITAM Vizag generally starts in the month of March/April for the GITAM Vizag B.Com admission of the subsequent June/July.
- GITAM Vizag B.Com eligibility criteria is that the candidate must have 12th standard (any group) pass and minimum 50% marks in the aggregate.
- The criteria of admission includes the student’s performance in their 12th standard examinations and the conducted by the institute GITAM Admission Test (GAT).
- The examination GAT comprises of four areas including quantitative aptitude, analytical reasoning, English comprehension, and general knowledge. It means the candidate has to obtain a pre-set GAT cut-off in order to qualify.
- In addition to GAT scores, 12th standard standard marks are also taken into consideration for preparation of the final merit list for B.Com admission . Also, preference given based on the type of specialization that an aspirant wants to make.
- GITAM Vizag offers BCom with such specialisations as Finance, Banking, Computer Application, Tourism & Hospitality, etc. Specializations are available at the time of admission and candidates may choose the desired specialization at that time.
- The over all fee structure of GITAM for its 3 year B.Com course is nearly Rs. 2.5- 3 lakhs based on a particular stream chosen. Hostel facility and mess charges are to be paid additionally.
- Candidates seeking admission are offered the course based on their marks in the qualifying examination, which is class X + II or equivalent. Gitam accepts group and composite marks from the national level examinations such as CBSE, ICSE etc. as well as the several state boards.
- For the general category, the candidates must secure the minimum of 50% of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. Scheduled castes/scheduled tribes must have a minimum of 45% aggregate to apply for the course.
- Also, it is worth mentioning that Gitam takes into account the overall academic achievements of the candidate, extra-curricular activities, and interviews during the admission process.
- Applicants who have written competitive tests like GITAM Admission Test (GAT) are likely to be preferred and such scores might be considered more in admission process.
- The admission shall be made from the students seeking admission from the other countries on the merit of their 10+2 results or any other examinations equivalent to it. Some schools may require students to pass an exam with a specified minimum score depending on the system of the school they are transferring from.
- The final admission is given subject to the availability of the seats in the discipline where the candidate wanted to get admitted and the total number of marks scored by the candidate. Gitam College publishes merit cut-off lists of the candidates for admissions at the time of the selection.
