IIT BHU Varanasi Formerly Known as Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi is a public technical and research university. It was established in 1919 as the Banaras Engineering College and renamed into the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University in 1968. IIT BHU is a public technical and research university associated with IITs of India established and recognized by the Government of India. The college received a grade of ‘A’ and a CGPA of 3.02 from NAAC.
IIT BHU offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in about 21 departments in various disciplines of engineering and technology which include Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutic Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Ceramics Engineering and Civil Engineering among others. IIT BHU offers B.Tech courses and the admission to the same is given based on the JEE Advanced exam. Whereas for M.Tech admissions, candidates are required to pass the GATE exam. A normal registration process starts in February-March of a year. Written tests and interviews are made in the months of May-June.

- Educational Qualification: It is compulsory for students to have 10+2 or equviliant with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as major subjects of study. Scores vary from one category to the other as it is the minimum aggregate marks needed.
- Age Limit: There is no eligibility criteria, age restrictions whatsoever for IITS admission.
- JEE Entrance: The candidates will be screened through the JEE (Advanced) test and the marks will be scored accordingly so that they can meet the passing requirements. Besides speaking about JEE main ranks, this factor as well can make candidates eligible.
- Admission Mode: Selections under this category will be made on the All India Ranks secured in JEE Advanced/JEE Main exams.
- Subject combinations required in 10+2: Arts, physical education and computer studies are extra courses that are fulfilling in nature. Students from any background/Educational streams are welcome to appear for the exams.
- Percentage criteria: Within the general/OBC category, students need to score a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST) cumulatively in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class XII exams.

IIT (BHU) - Varanasi Campus, provides options of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs with branches in engineering, science, humanities, and social sciences. Leading courses include Computer Science, Electric, Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering applied to the mentioned branches.
Graduate study in IIT BHU are MTech and MSc degrees at subjects like computer science, biotechnology, pharmaceutics and nanotechnology, applied mathematics and a management program MBA. PhD and integrated PhD Programs are different from each other; these programs are offered by the university across all disciplines.
1. For entering IIT (BHU), there is common entrance test conducted by (IC) known as (JEE) conducted at the national level. Students must take JEE Advanced and clear the hurdle of JEE Mains to get admission.
2. Along with this, the JEE entrance scores, students should have at least 75% marks of the class 12 board exams or in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards.
3. For merit-based undergraduate courses, students have to fill the application and send it through JEE Main. JEE Main score based cut-offs determine which students shall be allowed to participate in JEE Advance examination.
4. For postgraduate admission (PG), one can qualify GATE or apply directly through a regular process depending on the eligibility criteria of the specific PG program.
5. When the entrance examination marks are released after the exam, IIT (BHU) gets the names of qualified students based on the rank of their best marks, reservation etc. The candidates can then select the courses of their choice and if there are more candidates filling the same choice, then by following the policy in a fair manner, the students can get admission to their first choice.
6. Students have to complete the admission formalities which can be either done online or by reporting in person as per the print out and information notification from IIT (BHU).
7. Payment of fees and also document verification come under admission process. Especially, if student lives in hostel, allocation of hostel also comes under this process.

The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi provides for a broad array of scholarship awards together with financial aid programs to reward students with outstanding academic performance as well as those from economically backward families. Funding is rendered quantum-like and is not subjected to a fixed duration for all competitions. Students can be eligible to most of the scholarships before they even arrive, while there is a need to file a separate application for other ones after enrolling in the college.
