Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) situated in Guwahati, Assam is one of the leading medical college in the North East India. They provide different medical courses in various disciplines. For the MBBS course, only those students are selected who qualify the NEET exam and have a minimum of 50th percentage. They should have appeared and cleared their 10+2 examination in any stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum of 50 percent marks. BDS course also admits the students on the basis of NEET scores but PCB subjects in 10+2 pattern with minimum 50 percent. To join MD/MS courses in departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, general Medicine, Pediatrics, TB & Respiratory Medicine, Dermatology, Psychiatry, etc after doing MBBS one has to go through NEET PG. DM/MCh in Neurology, Neurosurgery, CTVS, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, etc. are post graduate level super specialty courses which are needed NEET SS exam after MBBS + MD/MS with minimum 55 % marks.
The key medical entrance exams accepted by GMCH Guwahati across the streams and courses are: NEET UG 2023, NEET PG 2023 and NEET SS 2023 respectively. The tentative dates are - NEET UG: 5th May: NEET PG: 5th March and NEET SS: February/ March 2023. The authority shall also issue the same notification on its website. Following result declaration, students need to apply online or offline through filling up the application forms along with the required documents and the application fee as advertised by GMCH for counseling and further admission process of the batch 2024. The minimum eligibility criteria and the requirements for the examinations differ in accordance with the different academic fields and courses offered.
