PIET was established in the year 1996 which offers various engineering degree courses in computer science and information technology, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics. For Computer Science and Engineering, the BTech program offered at the PIET allows admissions through national level tests such as JEE Main, UPSEE among others. It does not have a minimum eligibility requirement except that the candidate needs to secure a minimum of a 50% marks in class 12 PCM subjects. The BTech in Mechanical Engineering also offers admission through JEE Main scores and requires candidates to have 50% aggregate in 12th PCM. Civil engineering and electronics & communication engineering are some of the other programs offered by IITs under BTech stream which has similar requirements for admission and accepted exams. All the students who wish to apply for any stream of engineering in the PIET have to produce a record of their basic qualification where they must have taken the relevant subjects in twelfth standard.
As for engineering admissions in the academic year 2024, the applicant can find the schedules for the PIET admission and the national exam. Thus, the JEE Main 2024 exam date has been scheduled for January and April 2024 as per the standard procedure. Thus, the UPSEE will be conducted in April 2024, as per the latest updates from the exam conducting authorities. IPUCET for candidates belonging from Delhi region will be conducted in the month of May, 2024. However, PIET also has direct admission scheme wherein students are offered admission based on their marks in 12th standard for some percentage of seats in the following courses of BTech – computer science and information technology, civil and mechanical engineering and electronics. The institute may likely to open its admission in the month of May, 2024 when the national examination results will be declared. For online application kindly visit www.piet.ac.in and navigate to the ‘Admissions’ link on the top of the page to find further details. Choose your program of interest from the list for application which is presented in the format BTech/MTech then click on the apply now button. First, you will have to open an account, then fill in the admission form where you will be required to put in your academic data besides other details. Upload scanned images of photograph, signature, and other required certificates such as educational qualification etc in the prescribe size and format. The fee for applying can be made online using a credit/debit card, through net banking etc.
In case of offline submission, candidates can acquire the admission brochure and application form from the admission office of the institute through a prescribed fee. Please complete the form legibly providing all the information and enclose certificates in original./pp/p The required documents to be attached include the completed application form with a demand draft of the application fees to be submitted at the office. They are recruited every year in general through Institute notification though the period may vary between January and May. Selection is done on the basis of national/state entrance examination or merit in the qualifying examination for admission to the BTech programmes.
- It is common to take the students based on their performance in the engineering entrance exams such as the JEE Mains. Admission of students to these institutions is done based on ranks given in these examinations.
- Certain colleges also base admissions on the marks obtained in 12th board examinations, or in combination with the entrance test. The cutoff is usually placed for 12th percent for the eligibility of admission.
- In addition to academic requirements other colleges have other things such as interviews, extracurricular activities, a sports quota etc.
- The admission may be divided into several categories and some guaranteed number of seats for the students belonging to specific category or those coming from specific states.

1. Registration - The registration link is available on the college’s website under the admission section. Register and fill in additional personal information about oneself, as well as academic achievements.
2. Admission Application Form –Don the B.Tech admission application form by logging to your account. As for the other sections, submit all applicable & relevant information such as academic achievements, personal background, preferred program/branch, etc.
3. Upload Important Documents – In addition to the application form, attach scanned copies of essential academic documents like 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates etc. as applicable.
4. Application fee payment – use the payment gateways like net banking, debit/ credit card, UPI etc., to pay the application fee and retain the payment acknowledgment slip.
5. Print Application - Take a print out of the form filled and after clearing the fees.
6. National/State Level Engineering Entrance Exams – In case your course offers any national/state level entrance exams such as JEE Mains, then register for them and give them a try.
7. Admission Counselling – If shortlisted then be a part of web admission counselling or offline admission counselling on the basis of rank/merit, choice filling and seat allotment.
8. Admission Confirmation – After the seat has been allotted and the choice locked, the candidate has to visit the college along with the originals of the documents and the allotment letter and get them verified. Pay admission fees to make sure you secure an admission slot.
- For most of the engineering colleges, the students’ admission to these courses is usually through the scores they get in the engineering entrance examinations such as the JEE Main and the 12th standard board examinations. The students are generally ranked according to the marks they have obtained, and through counseling they are admitted to the colleges and to the different branches of the particular college.
- Few colleges too have separate tests and standards for admission. In addition to the 12th standard marks, it may also involve, written tests, interviews, etc.
- Most of the factors propounded for admittance include 12th scores in Physics, Chemistry and Math, entrance test performance, ranks, choice and the criterion of reservation.
- Certain colleges also have the policy of preferring students on the basis of their extracurricular activities; ranks in Olympiads etc.
1. Visit the official web site of the chosen college, which is PIET Panipat at http://www.piet.ac.in
2. On the home page, navigate to the ‘Admissions’ tab, which is given at the top of the website and click on ‘B.Tech Admissions’.
3. After that, you will be taken to page that is specifically for the admission to the B.Tech program. The link for the online application form should be provided and clicking on the link will lead you to the page.
4. This will mean that the online application form will open. Make sure you complete every detail like your personal information, academic background, contact information and so on.
5. Then, the candidate should upload scanned copies of necessary documents such as photograph, signature, mark sheets of class 10 and 12 etc., in the prescribed format.
6. Complete the Application fee payment through Net Banking / Debit card / Credit card or as mentioned in the payment mode section.
7. Finally, always cross check all the details you have entered before you submit the application form.
8. After filling the application form one has to click on the submit button to finish the application process.
9. After submitting the application, download it and also have a printout of the application along with the application number.
10. Wait for the institute to announce Merit Lists. If chosen, follow additional admission requirements as the institute provides them.
