PSG Polytechnic College is an autonomous polytechnic college, run under the directorate of technical education, Tamil Nadu. PSG Polytechnic College, Coimbatore was established in 1951 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and is approved by AICTE and is NAAC ‘A’ Grade instituted. PSG Polytechnic College is one of the well reputed government polytechnic colleges in India offering Diploma in Engineering and Technology courses and according to the NIRF ranking 2022 it has been ranked 46th.
PSG Polytechnic College currently provides full time diploma courses in the various disciplines of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology at an intake of nearly 600 students per annum. Admission process begins in May each year through online at the institute’s website and the required documents are scanned and submitted online. For the diploma programs, students are called to be ranked depending on the marks they obtained in their 10th exams. University has six semesters in a year and each semester has its end term examinations. Some of the important exams which would be conducted for 2023-24 batch are as follows 1st internal examinations will be conducted in November 2023, model theory tests in February 2024, final theory test in March 2024 and practical tests in April 2024.

1. Minimum of 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board/ In case of SC/ ST/ OBC-Non creamy layer/ physically challenged candidates, a relaxation of 5% marks shall be granted. Should have offered Math, Science as well as English as core subjects in school.
2. For the diploma programs, passed 10+2 examination from any recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Math or passed 10+2 vocational stream in any related trade.
3. For post-diploma programs, the candidate must have obtained a relevant diploma from a recognized technical board with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
4. The preference goes to those candidates who possess a diploma in Engineering and have 2 years of prior work experience or ITI certificate holder with the relevant work experience.
5. The maximum age for the diploma courses is restricted to 26 years and that of post diploma is 28 years as per the AICTE norms and regulations but with certain exemption.
6. Admission is granted based on merit in the qualifying examination or entrance test, followed by counselling session where necessary for certain courses.
