The Roorkee College of Engineering (RCOE) is an engineering college based in the city of Roorkee which provides a variety of engineering courses in different fields. The computer science, information technology, civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering disciplines in RCOE offer BTech programmes for which they conduct the following national level entrance tests JEE Main, UPSEE and GATE. The computer science department also takes into account the CUCET and WBJEE students while the information technology department also takes SRMJEEE scores. For all the BTech programs, the minimum standard that admission is offered is usually based on the pass in the higher secondary examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics as the main subjects. Candidates also required passing criteria which involve must pass in final examination for getting at least 50 percent aggregate marks. For the civil engineering department, the minimum percentages are 60 percent in aggregate for general category candidates.

RCOE currently provides PhD programs in several engineering departments such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Electronics and Chemical. The minimum requirement expected from the candidate seeking admission for PhD is that the candidate possesses a Master’s degree in the related branch of engineering and the candidate should have secured an aggregate of 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST). It is also possible to get admission to some departments if one has completed GATE/NET qualifications. For Civil department PhD, only GATE and CEED are allowed exams while for Mechanical and Chemical departments, GATE score is compulsory. Computer Science and Electronics engineering department both of these have the facility of accepting GATE score as well as the scores of UGC-NET.
