The admission procedure for 2024 is implemented by applying on the institute’s online application form or by appearing for different national/state level entrance exams. - It takes students based on ranks in the VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination) set by the VIT University. This is an exam that those who want to be candidates must sit for them to qualify.
- In addition to the VITEEE results, marks obtained in the 12th Standard (or equivalent) are also taken into account to prepare separate merit list and ranking for admissions. In both of these scores, weightage is given to them.

- The opportunity to obtain M.Tech degrees depends on the results of the GATE test. Thereby, the eligibility criterion is that the candidates must have a valid GATE score.
- Based on the shortlisting criteria, candidates are advised to report for counseling where they have to face an interview session. This marks, along with the students’ GATE scores, are taken into account while preparing the final merit list of the students for the interview.
- For the sponsored candidates, namely those with more than 2 years working experience, the candidates are admitted based on their performances in both a written examination and an interview set by the institute. It is not mandatory for them to have scored well in GATE exam.
- Another criterion which determines the selection is the number of seats for admission in various specializations of M.Tech. Percentage of seats for reserved category is as per norm and regulation prescribed by the government.
- Additional criteria that are taken into account are - academic achievements in the form of marks/CGPA of graduation, the quality of the college/university from where the UG degree is pursued, extra-curricular performance etc.
