BA in English is a 3 or 4-year undergraduate program, which is designed for those students who wish to pursue their career in teaching English, literature, linguistics, and creative writing skills. The general duration of the BA English course is thrice years or 6-semesters in total. Among them the British, the American and the World, including poetry, prose, fiction and other non- fiction forms of literature from various periods of time. Students also learn advanced grammar, phonetics, spoken English, and other soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, among others. Some of the colleges even offer a chance to the students to major through the options of elective courses in areas like journalism, mass communication, public relations, teaching, law or creative writing amongst others.
The tests that are typically required for admission include state or national tests such as the SAT, ACT or tests carried out by individual Universities. The date of the examination is generally up to March – June; however, the academic year starts from July – August. They are required to fill application forms prior to the entrance tests which can be through online mode or sending hard copies to the respective colleges. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the application deadlines that take place in the period of October-December the previous year intended for admission. It is noteworthy that majority of colleges announce their selected list by mid of the July for the admissions.
