Geography is the academic field that deals with lands, features, inhabitants and occurrences of the Earth and Bachelor of Arts (BA) Geography is an undergraduate program. Program details This is a 3-year program and some of the areas of study include physical geography, human geography, geography of resources, geospatial technologies such as GIS/Remote Sensing and environmental geography and other related fields. Students get acquainted with the methodology of mapping, surveying, regional and geospatial planning and also get to learn analytical skills. The program duration is 3 academic years and the course is tackled in 6 semesters. Another option in some institutes is Integrated Master’s program which takes 5 years of study.
The entrance exams accepted for admission in BA Geography program are: CUET conducted by National Testing Agency, state level entrance tests conducted by respective authorities, National / state/University level written tests and Interview etc. It is also noteworthy that many colleges also offer merit-based admissions depending on one’s 12th Board Exam results. Further, during admission some of the tests for dyslexic learners might include spatial ability tests, map-reading skills, etc while some of the colleges may conduct personal interviews before giving final admission to the learners. The minimum qualification required for admission to the BA Geography course is the 12th standard examination in any stream with related subjects like Mathematics, Statistics or any related quantitative subjects.
