The Bachelor of Arts (BA) Mass Communication is an undergraduate course that deals with various mediums of mass media such as Print, Television , Radio, New Media and Social Media etc. The Course extends for three years and is a full time program that provides understanding of different media theories and practices Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism, and any one of the specializations. In general, the subject matter comprises first year foundational courses dealing with theories of communication and principles of writing. Second & third year offers course like media laws & ethics, development communication, advertising principles, PR campaigns, photo journalism and internships so as to Familiarise the students with the industry.
The entrance exams that are acceptable for admission to BA (Mass Communication) across various colleges include NPAT by Pearson, CUCET, IPU CET, BHU UET, DU JAT. Only a handful of institutes, such as IIMC and MICA, also have their tests. The basic admission criteria is clearing class 12th in any stream with pass percentage of 50% marks. English proficiency is crucial since the program contains strong elements of both writing and oral report. Those who have worked in media before are preferred.
