B.Com refers to a bachelor’s degree in commerce and is normally offered as a 3-year course. The areas covered in the course include core commerce subjects such as accounting, economics, and finance, business administration and management. Apart from this many colleges provide different specialization in B.Com; accounting and finance; Banking and Insurance; Taxation; Business management; Computer Applications; and Tourism administration. The qualification for pursuing B.Com is passing 12th standard with commerce or science or arts stream.
Some of the most common B.Com entrance exams are the state level Common Entrance Tests (CET) which are usually conducted from April and June. Apart from CET, those students may also opt for college level tests and national level exams such as ATMA, IPMAT or NPAT scheduled during the month of May or June. College admissions and applications take place during June-August and are usually before the new start of the academic year in July-August. The entrance exams evaluate quantitative skills, logical reasoning, verbal skills, general knowledge, and language proficiency in the form of pen-paper tests and group exercises or personal interviews.
