The Bachelor of Commerce or B.Com (Hons) is a commercial undergraduate course which deals with Commerce and related subjects like accounting, finance, economics, and business management. Generally a B.Com (Hons) programme takes 3 years of course duration where the total program is split into 6 semesters, that is 2 semesters in each year. The commerce program covers all basic commerce subjects like financial accounting, business management, business laws, and statistical methods, and economic along with the subjects depending on the student’s major or stream like finance, accounting, banking, marketing, etc. Total credits earned for the successful completion of the commerce degree program is between 120-130 and passed through semester exams and continual assessments. Appropriate internships in the related field are also recommended as a part of the study.
The entrance examinations conducted for the students who wants to get admission in some of the reputed colleges in India are NPAT conducted by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies,the SET exam conducted by Symbiosis, IPU CET conducted by GGSIP University, Jamia Millia Islamia, BHU UET exam conducted by Banaras Hindu University, CUCET conducted by the Central Universities and DUET conducted by Delhi University. Entrance exams for these courses are usually taking the Class 12 examination from any recognized Board with passing marks with colleges and universities setting their standards and cut off marks. Such exams when cleared well can ensure the candidate to secure an admission to the top B.Com colleges and universities in the country and most of the institutes also offer integrated Masters’ degree options after B.com.
