Interaction design is an undergraduate program area that deals with the designing and assessing of various interactive products such as web sites, applications, and the newer technologies in terms of usability. Usual being a 4-year undergraduate program, it provides students with skills necessary for achieving usable and delightful interfaces, including user research, prototyping, interface design, and design thinking across various digital and physical interfaces.
The normal entrance exams recognized for admission in B.Des (Interaction Design) program are NID DAT or CEED exam carried out by IITs. UCEED examination of IIT Bombay is also one of the entrance examination considered by some of the design colleges along with the entrance examinations conducted by the institutes themselves. Through these design aptitude tests, candidates are judged and ranked on their skills in drawing, perception ability, logical reasoning and aptitude.

1. It is mandatory that the candidate should have completed his or her 10+2 examination in any stream that is science, commerce, arts.
2. For candidates belonging to general category there is an age bar also, the candidate should not be below the age of 20 years as reckoned as on the 1st July of the admission year.
3. There are ways that candidates can qualify for entrance exams run at the national or state level such as UCEED/NID/CEED/NIFT or any design aptitude tests carried out by institutes.
4. Candidates applying should have ability to think creatively, be artistic and good at designing, basic computer knowledge and communication skills.
5. Students has to pass institute level rounds like written examination, interview and presenting a portfolio of work done by them.
6. Fluency in english is required while knowledge of the basic graphic design software is desirable for the interaction design program.
