The Bachelors of Design [B.Des] Leather Design is a full-time four year course offering specialized education in Leather Design and Development with an emphasis on the design perspective of finished leather products and leather accessories. Their study takes about 4 years and it is divided into 8 semesters. Special emphasis is placed on developing skills in designing leather based products such as bag, wallets, jackets, shoes with the help of computer aided softwares along with practical sessions on stitching, cutting, dyeing and finishing techniques for leather.
The eminent entrance exams accepted for admission are National Institute of Design (NID) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) for national level and different design aptitude tests at university/state level. In addition to the above some institutes also take class 12 scores for admission while some in addition have an interview to judge the student’s interests and creative aptitude for leather design programme in terms of drawing and artistic skills.

1. Candidates possessing 10+2 pass in any stream that is Science, Commerce, Arts stream with minimum 50% of marks in the aggregate.
2. It is open to all students who meet the requirements and who are in a position to apply after the twelfth standard. No entrance exam required.
3. Should have appeared and cleared 12th level examination from any known education board.
4. Ideally it should be good creative skills, drawing skills, color sense and visualization capacity.
5. Candidates who wish to build a career in leather craft, footwear designing or fashion accessory designing should go for this course.
