The B.I.D. stands for Bachelor of Interior Design which is an undergraduate course offered in a country that deals with designing the interiors of residential and commercial buildings. The system of study is usually 4 years of study split into 8 semesters. Such subjects as construction of buildings, art, computer aided design commonly referred to as CAD, building services, interior materials, color, furniture and furnishing, legislation/ethics, method study, design for projects among others are encompassed in the curriculum.
The basically accepted entrance tests for Bachelor in Interior Design program are – JEE Mains paper 2, NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture), CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design), and other test conducted by different colleges and universities. The candidate must pass all these entrance exams and meet the minimum set cutoff marks to be admitted. The basic qualifications that are accepted for admission are Class 12 results with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their main subjects, along with the normal category wise reservations as per the Indian Government.

1. The candidates who have completed 10+2 in any stream from a recognized board with 50% aggregate marks are eligible to pursue the course.
2. There are some institutes which have the entrance test pattern and then there are institute which take an interview round in addition to the portfolio presentation.
3. For the 3 year degree course, 10+2 is the minimum requirement while for 5 year BID course, candidates who passed 10th class can also apply.
4. This course has no constraint of age it means any individual who wants to take admission in this course.
5. For the job of an interior designer, candidates should bear certain qualities such as flair for creativity, aesthetics, drawing skills and interest in designing spaces.
6. Physical fitness is also necessary as some amount of work on the site is needed during the curriculum.
