Biology is an academic discipline that deals with the study of living organisms and the life processes; B.Sc. in Biology is therefore an undergraduate program that covers the scientific study of life. This course takes 3 years in which various issues are studied including biochemistry, genetics, ecology, evolution, plant and animal classification, physiology, cell and molecular biology. The teaching-learning includes the classroom theories as well as the practical laboratory experience. The programme will enable the students to pursue their higher studies and enhance their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The admission process for B.Sc. course requires passing in one of the following national level entrance examination. Biology program across colleges in India are: NEET, JEE Main, AILET, BHU UET, AMU entrance exam, DUET. Several other state universities and colleges also have their own Biology entrance examinations or take students in according to their class 12th percentile. Many institutes also consider PCB percentage ratio in 12th board in Physics, Chemistry and Biology respectively good performance in which may also help to get admission.

Entrance Exam | Many universities conduct entrance exams specifically for B.Sc. programs (e.g., CUET), while some base admission on merit (10+2 marks). |
1. Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with the main subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry and must have scored 50% aggregate marks in the above main subjects.
2. Should have taken English as one of the subjects for the 10+2 examinations as mandatory.
3. It is compulsory to pass mathematics in 10+2 for some of the colleges. Check college criteria.
4. Minimum age 17 years, it also stated that medical examinations of persons shall be conducted in accordance with the minimum age requirement of any country for employment. Age restriction differs in various colleges, although in most cases colleges do not set an upper age limit.
5. If need be, one must qualify for a relevant entrance test. He/she must also meet other requirements that may be required in the entrance test of the school of choice.
6. This is true as marks reservation and relaxation norms have been provided for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories.
1. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) – it is a national level undergraduate test for admission to MBBS/BDS and some other degree course in the field of medical science including B.Sc biology.
2. CUCET: Central Universities Common Entrance Test for getting admission in UG programs in different central universities.
3. State CETs – State level tests carried out through the state governments for admission to the First Year or First Semester of UG programmes including the B.Sc Biology in colleges and universities of the respective state.
4. University/college level tests – There are some universities and colleges which on their own design entrance tests for students seeking admission to B.Sc Biology and relevant programs.
