Biostatistics is an undergraduate degree also known as Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) that aims to equip the students with training in statistical methods used in biological, medical and health sciences research. This is actually a full time three year course where various topics such as probability, statistical inference, clinical trials, epidemiology, survival analysis, categorical data analysis are taught using statistical programming software. Students build up mastery of numeracy skills for tabulating, consolidating, analyzing and interpreting numerical data from health, clinical and biological research.
The following entrance exams were accepted for direct admission to the B.Sc. Biostatistics program are: competitor exams such as national/state level exams including JEE Main, GATE or university or institute level exams. A few more colleges also take into account PCM scores of the class 12th for admission into their institutions. Minimum eligibility required to apply for these post is the candidates must have passed The Class 12th examination with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for reserved category) with Mathematics as a compulsory subject from a recognized state or Central Education Board in India.
