B.Sc (Hons) Electronics or Bachelor of Science in Electronics is an Undergraduate course that offers the students an understanding of the principles and practical aspects of electronics engineering. Some of the areas that the program seeks to address include digital electronics, network theories, microprocessors, VLSI design, signal processing and communications among others. The curriculum also encompasses the learning of theoretical concepts and practical strategies in the analysis, design and fault detection of electronic circuits and systems . It normally takes 3 years to complete this program and is usually offered in 6 semesters. One semester lasts 5-6 months including examination periods for accomplishing the curriculum. Many Indian university provides this course in area such as electronics, electrical engineering, computer science etc.
The commonly accepted national level examinations for engineering are JEE Main GATE and other state levels examination which are commonly accepted for the admission to B.Sc (Hons) Electronics programs across India. A number of deemed universities and private engineering colleges have their own entrance tests to screen the candidates for taking admission into B.Sc Electronics program. Apart from academic score, most of the colleges have other admission criteria like: + Class 12 marks: many colleges still consider the marks scored in class 12 as an important criteria of admission. + Performance in interview: most of the college conduct interviews for their students to select their candidates. + Overall academic profile: some of the colleges look into the overall academic performance of the student for admission. + Admission through Merit: some of the college admit There are many reasons why a number of colleges have adopted low standards for admitting female students in order to ensure that more women pursue electronics engineering at graduation level.
