B.Sc. Information Technology is an undergraduate course which aims to equip students with knowledge and skills in areas such as software engineering, computer networking and communications, databases, web technologies and data analytics. The duration of the B.Sc. program is four academic years where the first 3 years consists of the school sessions and each of the school session is divided into two semesters with a total of six semesters. Information Technology course is of 3 years with six semesters. The subjects covered in the curriculum are programming languages Java, Python, OS, computer architecture, data structures and Algorithms, DBMS, computer Networks, web technologies, mobile computing, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and mathematics and soft skill development.
The entrance exams accepted for admission to the B.Sc Information Technology course by various colleges and universities are: JEE Main Paper 1, WBJEE, CUCET, Odisha JEE, UPSEE, AP EAMCET, Mumbai University CET, BITSAT, Manipal UGET, VITEEE and many more institutes provides direct admission through their 12th standard percentage. For getting admission in top NITs and IITs candidates have to take JEE Main Paper 1 examination and the candidates have to secure the required percentile.

1. A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in any stream preferably science, commerce or arts with at least 50% marks from any recognized board.
2. Maths is mandatory in 10+2 for some universities while for other maths/computer science/statistics/business maths are required.
3. There are no set age boundaries for this type of learning. Applicants of all sorts, be it the fresher or students who have a gap year, can apply.
4. It is most often dependent on the scores obtained in the 10+2 examination for getting an admission in most of the colleges. The entrance requirements may also vary with colleges as some of them administer their own examinations.
5. It is also important to note that lateral admission for diploma holders in to 2nd year B.Sc IT is available in some of the institutes and universities.

1. JEE Main – Joint Entrance Examination for Engineering, a national level test conducted by NTA and JEE B.Tech Computer Science.
2. It has an Information Technology program and CUCET or Central University Common Entrance Test is for admission to central universities.
3. AMU: Aligarh Muslim University Entrance Test, an entrance exam conducted at the university level for admittance to B.Sc IT course offered at AMU.
4. BITSAT – Birla Institute of Technology & Science Admission Test, premier institute entrance exam, students who qualify can choose B.Sc IT.
5. NIMCET – National Institute of Technology MCA Common Entrance Test to take admission in Post Graduate Information Technology Programmes in NITs.

1. This entrance examination is open to candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in science stream with at least 50 % marks.
