B.Sc in Mass Communication is an undergraduate course that deals with mass media and its function in society. The full-time course duration is for three years and prepares students in print sector like newspapers, magazines, electronic sector like radio, television, new sector like Internet social sites, advertising and public relation and many other fields. Students acquire both theory and practical skills through projects, internships, industrial visits and the like The subjects offered include; media studies, journalism, broadcasting, advertising, PR campaigns, communication research methods, media laws and ethics among others.
The entry level tests accepted for admission to B.Sc Mass Communication courses in various colleges are passing 12th board examination with minimum percentage of marks, college/university level exams, national/ state level tests like CAT/MAT/XAT for MBA colleges having this program. Most of the colleges have their own eligibility criteria; some of the colleges offer direct admissions based on marks gained in the 12th standard while some other colleges conduct interviews and group discussions to test their ability, general knowledge, and language skills. Therefore; 12th score coupled with satisfactory performance in related entrance test and/or interview can take one there.
