Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology is a three-year undergraduate program designed to teach students about plants, their structure, function and reproductive processes as well as their applications. Students learn about the plant structure, classifi cation, tissue culture, genetic manipulation, diseases, biochemistry and the need for preserving biological diversity. Mentioned curriculum offers adequate theoretical background and the practical experience to churn out well-equipped plant biologists. The program duration is 3 years, however spread over 6 semesters. There are some universities that have a 5 years integrated M.Sc. program in this specialization.
The following table shows the admission criteria and entrance examination for B.Sc. Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology program are: National/State level examinations like JEE Main, WBJEE, Odisha JEE, Assam CEE; university/institute level tests like BHU UET, JNUEE, GGSIPU CET, DUET etc and other common tests like CAT, GMAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA etc. Apart from having obtained the required cut-off marks, the students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with science subjects as main subjects comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics. 10+2 exams and/or entrance tests performance are considered for admission.
