B.Tech or Bachelor of Technology, is an undergraduate professional engineering degree awarded after four years of successful completion of the course. The curriculum of B.Tech normally comprises courses such as engineering mathematics, electrical engineering, civil engineering, computer science, and mechanical engineering. The program encompasses on theoretical and practical knowledge in engineering and inculcates the necessary skills to make a career in IT, manufacturing, construction industries etc. The B.Tech programme spans over four years with eight semesters in all. In addition to this, there are some institutes that offered B.Tech in five years and with trainings and projects.
This programme is offered by different colleges and universities and there are several national level as well as state level entrance examinations to get admission into B.Tech programme. JEE Main, JEE Advanced, UPSEE, WBJEE, BISTAT, VITEEE, SRMJEEE, MIT Manipal Entrance Exam, and COMEDK are some of the entrance examinations for B.Tech. Some institutes consider the results of entrance exams conducted by them along with the performance of students in Class 12 board exams, especially science stream, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects, for the admission into B.Tech. The qualification required to take these entrance exams is passing the Class 12 examination in science stream with desired percentage in aggregate.
