Diploma course in Biomedical Engineering is an undergraduate level Diploma program that may take 3 years. From the context it offers the theoretical and practical knowledge to the students about the biology, medicine and engineering sciences. This branch of engineering includes engineering approaches and systems for the diagnosis and treatment of medicine and healthcare. The subjects comprise anatomy, physiology, medical devices, biomechanics, clinical engineering, biomedical signal processing, biomedical imaging, rehabilitation engineering and sensor technology.
The entrance exams for admission considered for the main entrance are JEE Main, CET and the tests conducted by the state universities / institutions. Some institutes also set up their own qualifying written exams the candidate will take as well. As per the requirement the candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology subjects are eligible to apply.

1. Should have passed in Higher Secondary exam 10+2 science stream (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) conducted by any recognized board securing minimum 50% marks.
2. Candidates having science background with 10+2 can apply for the course, it does not matter your background is biology, computer science, electronics or any other field.
3. The age limit for admission to diploma has no specific age bar for any individual. There is not an upper age limit to apply for the scholarship and everyone can try their luck.
4. Over and above, students who are sitting for their 10+2 can apply under probationary capacity.
5. While some institutes conduct entrance examination for admission, some other institutes have a provision that they consider the marks of 10+2 examination.
6. Reading and writing skills in English will be crucial into the biomedical engineering course/unit as all the study material is in English. It also requires basic computer skills.
