Garments & Fashion Technology is a 2 year long fashion designing course that is mainly concerned with apparels and garments. It provides an opportunity to study elements such as pattern making, draping, sewing, embroidery, surface embellishment, fashion illustration, and computer aided designing software. There are lessons on fabrics, silhouettes, color, styling, and aspects of designing clothes for student’s body size, occasions, and trends. The course of study of two years is semester wise and there are four semesters in the programme focuses on basics of fashion and apparel designing.
The candidate needs to score minimum 10+2 qualification from any recognized board to get an admission in Diploma in Garments and Fashion Designing course. Certain institutes even take class 10th marksheets and then they also do conduct an entrance test in order to see the creativity and skills of the students. This exam also serves as a basis for getting into prominent colleges of the country through Common Entrance Examination. Other acceptable standardized tests are UCEED, CEED, NID DAT.
