Diploma in Clinical Pathology or DCP is a paramedical course which enables the students to join the profession or clinical laboratory technicians. This enables students to learn some methods of examining body fluids such as blood, urine. laboratory to aid the doctors in right diagnosis of diseases. Medical laboratories are staffed with skilled professionals who complete this course from paramedical institutes and medical colleges as diploma or certificate holder. DCP course normally takes between one to two years with possible division between classroom learning and practicum.
Since most of the colleges do not offer DCP programs, to get admission to the limited colleges, they must write entrance exams. In some cases they only require 10+2 qualification with PCB or with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the subject. Such entrance examination is Institute of Clinical Pathology (ICPATH), Gurugram or Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of India (AMLSI), Chennai. DCP admissions in most of the schools use the AMLS I Joint Entrance Examination which comprises of only objective and multiple choice questions that seeks to establish the capacity of the student in core science subjects.

1. Completed 10+2 or equivalent in science stream in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects from any known board.
2. The cut off marks for admission is set at 50 percent for all the students whereas for SC/ST students the cutoff is 40 percent.
3. As for the age of the applicants, there is no set limit, and anybody can apply for the course.
4. Admission can also be sought by students who would be giving their 10+2 examination as long as they complete it before the deadline.
5. The candidate must be medically fit to undertake the course.
6. Fluency in English language is mandatory since most of the teaching is conducted in English across various institutions of learning.
