Robotics Engineering Diploma course is a 3 year diploma course offered for those who have completed their 10+2 level examination or equivalent to it. Through this program, students will be able to understand the concept of design, development, operation as well as the maintenance of robotic systems. The following are the details of the contents of this course: basics of engineering, basics of electrical and electronics engineering, CA/CAD, robot mechanics, robot sensors, robot intelligence and concepts in programming, and applications of robots and similar ones. Practical session done in labs involve the construction of robotic prototypes to expose the students in real life situations. The minimum educational requirement to undertake diploma in robotics is 10+2 with science stream having Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Some of the exams giving admission to Diploma courses in Engineering across the polytechnic are Joint Entrance Examination which is conducted at National Level and the Common Entrance Test (CET) / Lateral Engineering Test (LET) conducted by State education boards. On these entrance tests, students are selected on merit and given the choice to get admitted to government and private polytechnic colleges depending on their preferences, availability of seats and the existing reservations. A good number of polytechnics admit students directly from the 10+2 level for some percentage of the total admitted students. The percentage required as a minimum mark is not standardized and may differ from one entrance test to the other and from one polytechnic institute to the other.
