This course is actually a diploma level course which takes one year to complete and educate students about microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi and parasitic organisms. Some of the subject areas addressed in this course include Microbiological techniques, Immunology, Pathogenic microbiology, food microbiology, genetics of microorganisms, Virology, Methodology. The Diploma program normally takes twelve calendar months of instruction and is partitioned into two semesters of six calendar months each.
The entrance tests that can be taken for the Diploma in Microbiology program include diploma common entrance test conducted by various state governments, institute wise common entrance tests like IPUCET Diploma, NIMCET, qualifying examinations like the 12th pass / intermediate with science subjects like biology, physics and chemistry or any other examination of any other university / institution/college. Even more importance is given to prior performances of the candidate by many colleges.

1. Candidate must have passed 10+2 with science stream subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology and scored at least 50% in aggregate from a recognized board.
2. Pass in 10+2 in any stream, arts or commerce or science, followed by one year diploma in related science subjects.
3. Like the previous one, there is no age bar or age requirement in order to get admission in this course. There is no preference given to the kind of candidate, be it a fresh pass out or a working professional.
4. This means there is a requirement of English as one of the subjects in the 10+2 level in order to be eligible.
5. Admission to all classes is open to the qualifying examination merit. Thus, we find that some of the colleges have their own entrance tests.
6. A medical report or a fitness and health certificate from a registered practitioner is a prerequisite for admission into our institution.
