Diploma in pathology is an allied health science program that deals with the processes of diseases and the use of lab procedures in diagnosing illnesses. Some of the subjects that are taught in this 1-year diploma program include General pathology, Systematic pathology, Hematology, Clinical pathology, Cytology, Blood banking, Histopathology and cytogenetics. Experiential learning is imparted on students to understand how lab tests and analyses are done to identify the root causes of diseases.
The minimum requirement for Diploma in Pathology is passing the Class 12 in the science stream the candidates. Different institutions admitting candidates to this program consider them on the basis of merits in the qualifying exam. Few colleges take their own entrance tests for admissions while few take the marks obtained in NEET, AMU Bsc (Paramedical) entrance exam, BHU paramedical entrance test and KEERA paramedical entrance test for admission in Diploma in Pathology course.
