Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering is a 3 years diploma level course and is related to Instrumentation and Control Engineering stream. Some of the areas of interest are instrumentation devices and systems, process control, sensors, signals and their conditioning, and control theory and automation. Students are trained in the setup, control, and maintenance of instruments and automation systems employed in different fields. Diploma course syllabi cover topics such as Engineering Fundamentals, Circuiting, Analog Electronics, Measurements & Instrumentation, Control & Instrumentation, PLCs & SCADA, and Industrial Instruments.
The entrance exams that are considered for admitting the students into diploma in instrumentation engineering include JEE Main, GATE, Diploma CET entrance tests for state or institute level. Also, some institutes use scores for class 10th and 12th exams in the admission process as well. In some institutes, there is a lateral entry by which one can get admission directly into the second year of the diploma depending on the marks in class 12th PCM.
