There is 1 or 2 year specialization in orthopaedics after completion of MS Orthopaedics known as fellowship in Orthopaedics. It is planned to give comprehensive clinical training in several sub-specialization areas of orthopaedic surgery such as Joint Replacement Surgery, Spine Surgery, Pediatric Orthopaedist Surgery, Orthopaedic Oncology, Hand and Micro Surgery, Sports Medicine, Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy, Trauma. Most of the fellowship programmes are of two years duration but some are of one year only. The essential conditions for applying for this course include but are not limited to clearing MD/MS Orthopaedics degree with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university.
The admission criteria for Fellowship in Orthopaedics recognised entrance examination for admission in India are NEET PG, AIIMS PG, JIPMER PG, PGI Chandigarh entrance examination, DNB CET, FMGE and state entrance examination. A few institutes do consider the candidate’s performance in MS Orthopaedics.

1. MBBS degree awarded by a university recognized by Medical Council of India and must have obtained minimum 55% aggregate marks.
2. MS/DNB Orthopaedics degree recognized by MCI with having minimum 3 years residency training at any one or at any institute.
3. Should have passed a one year rotatory internship after the completion of the degree.
4. I should be registered with MCI/ State Medical Council.
5. Board certified qualification M.S or D.N.B in Orthopaedics and must have at least 2 years of working experience post the completion of the course.
6. The candidates should pass the entrance test administered by the institute offering Fellowship program, interview inclusive.
