Cultural Studies is a postgraduate degree programme and the name itself suggest the concentration is in the study of culture and it offers areas such as media, literature, anthropology, sociology and history. This is an interdisciplinary program of study that seeks to explain cultural processes, texts, practices, and phenomena. The normal length of MA Cultural Studies course is 2 yrs of full-time study including taught modules and an independent dissertation. Some universities also have part-time or distance study opportunities which last longer taking 3 years to complete

The usual entrance exams accepted for admission into an MA Cultural Studies program are: GRE General Test, IELTS or TOEFL for overseas students where English is not the medium of instruction. Certain universities may also accept scores obtained from CAT, GMAT or MAT exams. When applying to cultural studies master’s programs, applicants are required to provide not only academic achievements, but statement of purposes, letters of recommendations, previous academic backgrounds and samples of writing.

MA Cultural Studies Course Eligibility 2024

1. A pass in any Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks from a recognized university.

3. Certain universities demand qualifying exams like UGC NET/JRF, GATE. 

4. This may be accompanied by course work and work experience in related fields preferred by some institutes.
