The Master of Arts or MA (Kannada) this course is a postgraduate course that offers the students deep insights into the language, literature, poetry, drama, culture and linguistics of Kannada. This course normally takes 2 years with four semesters. The requirements for admission are a Bachelor’s degree in Kannada or any other related field with at least 50% marks. While some universities have their own entrance tests, most of the colleges accept KSET and UGC NET scores of other tests as well.
The entrance examinations that are permitted for admission to the MA Kannada course are KSET, UGC NET, PGET, KMAT, CUCET, TANCET and ANDHRAU CET. However some universities like Kuvempu, Mangalore and Gulbarga have their own written entrance test for admission to the MA Kannada course. The minimum eligibility in these entrance tests differs from one university or college to the other for this postgraduate course.

1. Possessing any Bachelor’s degree with Kannada as one of the subjects in the under graduate level or B.A in Kannada language.
2. At least 45-50% marks in aggregate in the undergraduate degree examinations from a recognized university for general category candidates, and as per respective norms in case of reserved categories.
