Master of Arts (MA) in Mathematics is a postgraduate master’s degree program designed for learners interested in the rigorous study of mathematics. It takes 2 years to complete and offers students a comprehensive knowledge of the different subfields of math including algebra, analysis, applied mathematics, topology, among others The course is more theoretical but also incorporates aspects of practical application.
The general indicators for admission to MA Mathematics program are CSIR UGC NET, GATE, TIFR GS, JAM, NBHM, state level examination. Some of the institutes use scores of the CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA. tests which includes quant aptitude. To some extent, individual institutes are free to set their own entrance tests. Performance in the bachelor’s degree is also taken into consideration while shortlisting candidates.
