MA in Sanskrit is an ancient language which is a post graduate course and specializes in the study of the Sanskrit language, literature, philosophy and scriptures. The program may take two years if it is done in semesters and it consists of 4 semesters. The curriculum offers students mastery in the structures, forms, literary works, philosophies, Vedic writings, etc. in Sanskrit along with the skill in research. 

The students can apply through CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test), university level entrance exam and in some universities direct admission is also possible on the basis of merit. They are usually administered during the period of May up to July each year. Important dates include - examination notification and application form availability start from February- March, while the last date of submission of the application form is likely up to the first week of June. The exact exam dates also differ from university to university but the common time is during June and July. In the case of tests and exams, the results are announced in within a month from the date of the test. As for university wise counselling, this mostly takes place in either July or August for the academic year that begins in August or September of the same year.

MA Sanskrit Course Eligibility 2024

1. Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit or any other related field with minimum 50% of the marks from a University/ Institution recognized by the Indian Universities. 

2. It is open to all the students irrespective of their background provided they have done a pre-requisite course in Sanskrit.

3. Eligibility criteria for MA Sanskrit does not specify any age bar for the candidates seeking admission in this program. 

4. This course has the option of traditional face-to-face and online classes for distance learning.

5. Some universities administer entrance examinations as a prerequisite for admission while others consider previous academic performance in admission.
