The M.Com is a Master of Communication a post graduate qualification in the many types and approaches to communication. It is an interdisciplinary course where the student could choose his/her area of interest or focus area includes journalism, advertising, public relations, media studies, communication research among others. The M.Com course usually takes 2 years of duration with 4 semesters.
Some of the entrance tests for the admission to the M.Com program are CAT/MAT; XAT; CMAT; GMAT; ATMA; and the state level test like TANCET in Tamil Nadu. Certain colleges also have their own entrance examination for the admission of students. TOEFL/IELTS/PTE scores are needed for performance in English for the students who belong from non-English speaking countries. Other criterion, also considered for short listing include, work experience and the academic records of the candidates alongside the scores obtained in the entrance test.

1. A recognized university bachelor’s degree in any stream with at least 50% of the maximum marks.
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related field with proven experience in the communication discipline is preferred.
3. Effective communication skills in terms of writing and oral presentation as seen in resume, statement of purpose, interviews etc.
4. Candidates having 1-2 years of work experience in journalism/PR/advertising/marketing/promotion/publicity etc. shall be preferred.
5. Appropriate test scores in certain graduate level entrance exams like UGC NET, GRE, GMAT etc if necessary as per the university.
6. A few universities may accept certs in aptitude tests, GD/PI rounds along with applications to judge interests, aspirations, and attitudes.
