Master of Engineering (ME) in Design Engineering is one of the postgraduate level engineering courses that provides emphasis on design fundamentals and approaches. This course takes at least 2 years to complete and it focuses on enhancing the student’s understanding and competencies in product design and development. It encompasses areas such as design processes, computer aided-design, physical model making processes, manufacturing processes, product quality assurance and project planning and control.
The normal ME Design Engineering program which is offered in most institutions is a two-year full-time program. There are also those that allow students to attend part time or even online, which may take more time to complete.
The resume of tests generally accepted for admission to ME Design programs includes GATE, GRE, and tests conducted by colleges or universities. Most colleges consider candidates with some degree of performance in a qualifying bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology. Apart from this, shortlisted candidates are required to appear for an interview and/or to submit a portfolio of the design projects done by them earlier with the application. The admission requirements may vary across different universities or programs they offer.
