Master of Science (M.Sc) in Dietetics is a course of post graduate level which offers specialized knowledge and training in diet planning, nutrition science, community health care, food service management etc. The duration of M.Sc in Dietetics is two years, which have four semesters. Some institutes also provide a 3 years course also Some other institutes also provide 3 years course. The requirement for M.Sc Dietetics qualification is a Bachelors degree in nutrition, dietetics, home science or any other related course. Certain institutes also permit students with other graduating backgrounds. 

For taking admission in the M.Sc Dietetics program, the entrance exams accepted by the university are CUCET which is Central Universities Common Entrance Test, AIAPGET which is All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test and IGNOU entrance test. A number of colleges and universities also have their own tests to admit students into their institution. This is usually based on the candidate’s performance in the specific entrance examination in combination with other processes such as the counselling session or interview. Like other entrance tests, the syllabus contains questions from nutrition science, biochemistry, physiology, food & nutrition, human anatomy & physiology, chemistry and many more fields to cover Depending upon the colleges that students are applying they have to prepare for the specific test conducted by that particular college for this course.

MSc Dietetics Course Eligibility 2024

- A degree in nutrition and dietetics, dietetics and food/nutrition, home economics, life sciences or any other related field in allied health sciences. Besides, some colleges may have other prerequisites for their candidates too.

- Minimum 50-55% aggregate marks in graduation level and 5% relaxation to reserved candidate. Due to cut throat competitions, some of the colleges have fixed minimum marks criteria of 60 % for admission.

- Direct admission through entrance exam like Pondicherry University Entrance Test (PUET) or taking an exam conducted by the individual institute and then going for a counseling session. There are even some institutions that only award based on the scores in graduation.

- Certification in CDS or NDT is not essential but might give an applicant an advantage at certain institutes if he or she has work experience in the nutrition/dietetics field.

- Though the scores of TOEFL/IELTS may be needed if the student has passed the class from non-English medium. 

- On the same note, an aptitude test, also in the form of a personal interview round, is conducted at most institutes before offering admission.
