Master of Science (M.Sc) in Molecular Biology is a post graduate course in the field of biology that deals with the structural, functional, biochemical, and genetic and molecular characterization of biological macromolecules. This is a 2-year course that offers an advanced level of knowledge and research in the various fields of study such as cell biology, molecular biochemistry, genetics and genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics, immunology and molecular medicine, neuroscience and molecular biotechnology.
The minimum requirement for admission to the M.Sc. Programme depends on the department to department but mostly it is based on the scores obtained in the following examination:- Molecular Biology course is obtained from a Bachelor of Science in Biology or any other related field. A number of institutes use national level examinations CSIR-NET, GATE, ICMR-JRF for admission besides their own entrance test and/or interview. Some other universally accepted exams are the state level tests like TANCET, KCET.

1. Graduation in any stream of biology or any other branch of life sciences with minimum 50-55% marks from any government recognized university.
2. The candidates from streams like biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, zoology, botany, physiology, bioinformatics.
3. Examination names to be cleared by the students for admission or qualification marks including CUCET, JNUEE, BHU PET, etc.
4. The final admission may be based on certain marks obtained in graduation, in entrance test, and in personal interview.
5. Some institutes may also have preference when it comes to admission based on certain work experience in relevant fields.
6. IELTS/TOEFL scores especially may need to be submitted for English language proficiency tests for admissions in some institutes.
