M.Phil. Or Master of Philosophy in Management is a postgraduate research program which takes two academic years to complete. It entails higher learning and exhaustive scholarly work within a specified field of management such as Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, or Operations. To obtain the degree, students have to carry out their own research under the supervision of a professor and write a dissertation at the end. Course work educates the students in research techniques while the dissertation assists in cultivating research skills.
It includes passing national or university level tests such as UGC NET, CEET, university research eligibility tests and interview to assess the research capability. Candidates having 55% marks at Master’s level with a sound academic background are preferred. Relevant work experience is also taken into account. Entrance test and interview play important part and final selection is done on basis of performance in these tests along with consistency in academic performance and job history. It prepares students for higher level research oriented careers in the academia or in industry.
