PG Diploma in Medical Virology is a Post graduate diploma course in the field of Virology which can be completed in a time duration of 1 to 2 year. Virology is the branch of medical science that is concerned with the study of viruses, their nature, characteristics, transmission, effects on man and control. Medical virology is a specialized strand of medicine and this course helps one to gain the expertise needed to practice.
The course content of PG Diploma includes classification of viruses, pathogenesis of major virus groups, laboratory diagnosis of viral infections, antiviral agents, virus epidemiology and control measures, viral vaccines, emerging and re-emerging viral diseases, viral zoonoses. It is conducted for one year full time or two years part time where in addition to classroom teaching, the candidates are given practical training in the laboratories.

1. Degree awarded after completion of MBBS course valid in India according to the Medical Council of India.
2. On the completion of 1 year rotatory internship from a recognized university or institute by the Medical Council of India.
3. It is mandatory for the candidate to possess Medical Council registration certificate issued by the concerned authorities.
4. The candidates should have obtained more than 50% – 55% for the MBBS degree.
5. As per GOI rules, the candidates of the SC/ST/OBC and persons with disability category will be allowed 5% relaxation in the qualifying percentage.
6. Medical Council rules are not allowing those who have qualified any post-graduate degree courses to get admission in Diploma courses.
