Doctor of Philosophy in Education Management or Ph.D is a terminal degree program designed for education leaders and administrators to enhance their understanding about the leadership, administration, and management in education. This is a 3-year full time program which imparts higher learning in the form of policy evaluation, program assessment, research and training to further refine and augment the educational organizations and institutions. The curriculum entails mandatory courses such as leadership and change in education, politics of education, educational planning and finance, research methodologies, specialization courses, and a doctoral dissertation. They are trained to be leaders in faculties, education departments, research establishments, Non- Governmental organizations operating in education sphere etc.
UMD can give them UGC NET, SET/SLET, GATE, JRF or any other examination like CAT/MAT/ATMA along with good academic background. Most of the institutes also have their own test and interviews for the selection of aptitude for research work, basic knowledge and the skill of communication. In addition to the test scores of the entrance examination, the candidates have to provide a research proposal, statement of purpose and letters of recommendation in order to get enrolled in some of the reputable institutes for Ph.D. in Education Management in India.

1. It is mandatory for the candidate to possess a minimum of 55% marks in their Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
2. Possess a minimum of 55 percent marks in Master’s degree level exam for UGC NET/SLET or have cleared M.Phil. programme.
