Doctorate/M.Phil
Full Time

Welding Engineering Ph.D. is a doctoral level degree program dedicated to research and higher education in the area of welding science and technology. The Ph.D. in Welding Engineering usually takes a full-time of 3-5 years if a candidate is fully dedicated. The program curriculum comprises of various topics such as welding metallurgy, welding processes, materials welding design, nondestructive testing, welding automation and research. Students engage in a large amount of research and developmental work in the form of a doctoral thesis that provides a new and significant contribution to the field of welding engineering. Research is conducted under the supervision of a faculty supervisor and a thesis committee. Both coursework, practicals and dissertation enable acquisition of an in-depth mastery in the subject as well as the skills to undertake independent welding research to students pursuing a PhD.

Universities have set varying criteria for admission to Welding engineering Ph.D. Programs but basic requirements include Master’s Degree in Welding engineering or related fields such as mechanical, metallurgical, manufacturing engineering etc Entrance exams accepted are GRE, GATE, NET along with other essential requirements such as the percentage candidates had earned in prior degree, statement of purpose, recommendation letters etc For students who have work experience in industries but no postgraduate qualification, they may sit The final decision of selection is made based on the academic performance throughout the degree, the scores achieved in exams, statement of purpose and the performance of the candidate during the interview session.
