All India Bar Examination

The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) is a process conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) to test an individual’s comprehension and understanding of the law required to practice in the legal profession in India. The exam is currently thought to establish a standard threshold for the admission of advocates in the practice of law in the country. The nature and scope of AIBE tests are very wide and it covers topics as varied as constitutional law, family law, international law, corporate law, criminal law, etc. 

AIBE is an open-book examination which consists of 100 questions with a duration of 2 hours. For the AIBE selection, the candidates are expected to score at least 40%. The exam is also held in April and November every year. The results are released in about one month- one and a half month after the exam. Qualified candidates are issued a Certificate of Practice which allows them to practice their profession legally in India but not in Kerala.

The announcement of the dates for the AIBE is due as per the schedule for 2024 which states the April session of AIBE will be held on April 21, 2024 and the November session is to be conducted on November 17, 2024. The registrations start 2 months before the required exam dates. It has an internet-base operation putting into consideration the registration stage all the way to the release of results on the official website.

How to Apply for AIBE Exam 2024?

1. There will be an option to register online for the AIBE 2024 examination from the official website of Bar Council of India – barcouncilofindia.org. Click Register and fill in the fields necessary for this action.


2. The scanned copies of LLB degree, 10th, 12th mark sheets and a passport size photo and signature should also be uploaded following the specifications provided. Pay the registration fee using any of the online payment system. 


3. Take a print out of the filled AIBE application form that was downloaded. Paste your passport size photo in the spot provided and sign the form before delivering it to the given centers.


4. After your application has been reviewed and confirmed, you are ready to download AIBE admit card from the website for successful login. Go for the AIBE exam on the pre-scheduled date in the appointed exam venue with the issued admit card.

Documents Required for Apply AIBE Exam 2024

1. School Leaving Certificate certified by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sargodha as well as Birth Certificate as age proof/declaration.

2. Degree certificate or Provisional degree certificate from the institution where LLB degree is obtained.

3. Acknowledgement letter from the respective State Bar Council. This one is also required to come for exams. 

4. Photo Documents – This can include your Aadhaar card, Voter ID card, Driving License or PAN card.

5. Photographs with a recent passport size.

6. Certificate on the caste (if applying under the SC/ST/OBC category).

7. PTD certificate from the concerned authority (in case of applying under the Person with Disabilities category).

8. If you are a law faculty or advocate working in the law firms, companies etc you need NOC (NO objection certificate).
