Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test

Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (Karnataka PGCET) is conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority for admission into MBA MCA ME MTech and MArch courses in government private aided institutions across Karnataka state. Based on computer technology, the PGCET tests the aptitude, general knowledge and analytical abilities of the candidates with the relevant graduate degree for the first year or first semester in the respective post graduate courses. It is a 2.5 hours examination and contains different sections that assess the applicant in verbal ability, logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and Kannada language. The KEA announces the results of the PGCET exam within a month from the date of examination on the KEA official website.

The candidates who clear the exam get the opportunity to attend the counseling sessions and get their seats allocated based on their ranks and any other relevant documentation. According to the latest information available, the Karnataka PGCET 2024 exam dates have not been released yet, however, KEA is expected to release the exam dates in the last week of February, 2024 and the exam may be held in the last week of April or the first week of May, 2024. The PGCET 2024 answer key is likely to be released in May 2024 and the results in June 2024.

How to Apply for Karnataka PGCET Exam 2024?

1. Check the eligibility criteria

First, check whether one is qualified to apply for the jobs as per the requirements that KEA has set in its specifications such as education standard and age limit to mention but a few. 

2. By filling the online application form 

After it is out, you will be expected to go to the official website and you need to register yourself. Then login and carefully and efficiently fill the PGCET application form.

3. Upload documents

Upload all the documents scanned in the respective category such as photo, signature, category certificate, if any, etc. as per the specifications.

4. Pay application fee

To pay the application fee, the candidate may use the payment gateways like credit card, debit card, net banking etc.; the candidate must retain a copy of the payment Receipt.

5. Review and submit

Look at the contents of the form more keenly and into the details before its final submission. After generating the application form, a set of entries should be reviewed to ensure all information input is correct. 

6. Download confirmation page 

Get the confirmation page printed and keep a copy with you including your application number for future use.

- Mark card/certificate in the 10th standard for proving the age of the students.

- Based on the marks secured by the students in the 12th standard examination, marks card is prepared.

- Original mark lists of all the years/semesters of the B.A/B.Sc/B.Com respectively.

- Official academic transcript of the last educational level attained (if the applicant has already completed the Bachelor’s degree program).

- Caste/Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe certificate (if applicable to the candidate belonging to these categories)

Karnataka PGCET Exam Preparation Tips 2024

1. Familiarise with the examination format - This includes the number of sections or papers, subjects tested, whether objective or subjective, and how the marks are divided.

2. Read through the syllabus in detail – It is important to go step by step through the syllabi of the subjects which are tested – Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology, etc.. Make sure to go through the syllabi of the previous years as well.

3. Go through model papers - Going through model papers can be very beneficial for the student to get an idea of what type of questions are usually asked and topics that are commonly covered. It will also assist you in terms of how well you manage your time.

4. Revise often and highlight important topics, formulas, theories – Writing short notes is a convenient way to study. It is also recommended to revise these notes frequently in addition to solving the mock tests.

5. Focus on your problem areas - There are always sections of the course or specific concepts that you may struggle with; dedicate more time to learning and problem solving in those areas. Try to organize and bring your attention to where you need it most.
