UGC NET is a national level exam conducted by University Grants Commission for eligibility of assistant professor and junior research fellowship. It is pursued to find out the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and for also awarding JRF in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC NET exam is a qualifying assessment that is used to determine and identify standards of teaching and research in the higher education system. The exam has two types: General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude (Paper 1) which tests the test taking skills, reading comprehension and communication ability; and Subject Paper (Paper 2 and Paper 3) which tests a candidate’s knowledge of the subject and their applied abilities and their research potential.

1. Candidate must be a masters graduate or equivalent with minimum 55% marks from recognized university.
2. Master’s degree students who are in their terminal year are also eligible. They can apply in the validity period of Junior Research Fellowship.
3. There is no upper age which will hinder the person from being appointed in the job. Age relaxation is permissible as per regulation of the government in reserved category.
4. NET/SLET/SET qualified candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET.
5. Those who have attended or plan to attend exams that are equivalent to Master’s level together with those who have attended or plan to attend examinations in Master’s level are also eligible.
6. Candidates who are found qualified in UGC/CSIR JRF examination conducted before the 1989 are also exempted from the NET examination.
1. The applicants are advised to keep on checking the official website for notification of the exam dates as issued by NTA.
2. Login in to the application by clicking on the application link and signup with your details to create a login account.
3. Having logged in, fill the online application with scanning supporting documents.
4. The application fee can be paid through credit/debit card, net banking etc for online through the same link.
5. Click the status bar for the application confirmation page after success.
6. Check the status of your application until the admit card is opened on website.
7. The admit card which is received by the candidate over the mail has to be downloaded and a hard copy has to be carried to the mentioned exam center.
