The Assam Women’s University in Jorhat provides a wide range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and so on for women students In different departments, the admission requirement is different. The admission criteria for B.A. programs requires the candidates to have passed class 12th from a recognized board with at least 50% marks. Acceptable exams include HS, AHSEC and so on. For B.Sc, candidates should have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. To be eligible for B.Com the candidate must have secured 50% in 12th standard from commerce background. B.Ed demands graduation with 50% marks in relevant subject and clear the CTET examination. How to get admission in M.A. in Assamese, English, Education etc: One has to complete a relevant Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks. Some of the PG programs have their own entrance exams such as AWES.
The administration of the University will start the admission process for the 2024 batch in mid 2023. Among the different under graduate programs available in arts, science commerce and education streams, are B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.Ed. M.A, M.Sc and M.Com as postgraduate courses are offered with specific specializations. Campus based entrance tests :June-July 2023 While National Level tests: UGC NET,CUCET etc will be conducted according to public schedule. The application process for programs starts approximately in March 2023 and the admission will be offered on the basis of class XII/graduation and entrance test conducted, if any. Different reservation policies exist depending on the eligibility categories. The application is done online with the supporting documents submitted by the end of June 2023 until all the seats are taken. The classes usually commence in August.
The Assam Women’s University, which is situated in Jorhat, offers admissions to several undergraduate and postgraduate courses every academic session. Students can apply for admission through an online mode by visiting the university’s official website, www.awuj.edu.in or through the offline mode.
To apply online, you need to visit the university’s website and navigate to the admission section. Choose your preferred course and be very keen when filling the form with all the details required. Scan and upload relevant documents, make the application fees online and submit the application. Print a copy of the completed form for future use.
For offline application, collect the application form from the administrative office of the university. Complete it as required and affix the self attested photocopies of the mark sheets, certificates and other documents required. It is necessary to submit the completed form accompanied by the demand draft of the application fees at the office. Applications are invited in May June through notices in the universities. It should be noted that entrance tests may also be administered for some of the programs offered. The selected candidates will be informed through merit lists, which shall be displayed on the website and the notice board.
- For the undergraduate programs, the admission criteria is the 12th standard board examination and relevant Entrance test scores if any. Additional activities are also considered in some colleges.
- In the case of postgraduate programs, the entrance examination is generally assigned the highest weightage. Percentage scores in the bachelor’s degree, relevant subject knowledge and any work experience may also be considering factors.
- Generally, eligibility criteria for Ph.D. and research programs consists of having a master’s degree with minimum percentage scores, NET/SET performance, research proposals, Interviews etc.
- Apart from the merit quota, different colleges and universities keep some more seats for categories such as female, reserved category, sports, etc.
1. Look for the latest admission notice and application form in the university’s website or any available media advertisement. They will contain information about programs offered, admission requirements, dates and so on.
2. Select the preferred program of study and check on the admission requirement that the university has placed in terms of academic qualification, age and so on.
3. It is recommended to get the application form either from the Internet site of the university, or get it in one of the campuses of the university. Please read through carefully before completing.
4. Complete the application form fully and legibly with correct personal and academic information. Ensure that there are no mistakes or missing details.
5. Among the necessary documents, please enclose the application form. This most often comprises 10th and 12th mark sheet copy, graduation mark sheet copy, Caste certificate if any, etc.
6. Submit the application fees, which may be through online or demand draft of Rs 100/- drawn in favour of ‘Assam Women’s University’, Jorhat.
7. Mail the completed application form together with documents and fee receipt, either in soft or hard copies to the address provided. Submit the application on time.
8. Remember to keep copies of application submissions for future references.
