BIT, Tiruchirappalli is one of the renowned engineering colleges in Tamilnadu, which is affiliated to Anna University and provides B.E., and M.E. courses in various branches of engineering. The B.E/B.Some of the technologies available for students are Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and many others. These UG programs demand conditions such as minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12 or any standard board exam like CBSE/State or any competitive exam like JEE Main.
The institute also provides Master of Engineering/ Master degree courses in different fields of engineering.M.Tech and M.C.A post graduate programs in the various disciplines namely –Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI Design, Embedded systems, Communication Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Computer Application, etc. The basic admission criteria for these PG programs is a B.E/B.Tech in the concerned branch of engineering with at least 50-55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university as the admission criterion. Candidates who qualified GATE exam have preference over the other candidates in terms of admission.
The admission process for the 2024-25 academic session for theBIT is going to start from May 2024. As for the admission process, BE/BTech streams such as CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, etc and PG programs like M.Tech, MCA will start their application process in the Third week of May 2024. TANCET is among the entrance examination that is considered while offering admission to ME/M.Tech, GATE for ME/M.Tech Only, TNEA counselling for BE/B.Tech and NIMCET for MCA programs are two of the options that are available to students. These entrance tests, therefore, are slated for the second to fourth week of June 2024, minimally. Only those students, who have scored the cut off marks in their respective categories, will be required to come for counselling and admission in the last week of June.
The admission procedure to Bharathidasan Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus of Anna University is done through the online method as well as the offline method. For applying in the various courses of the institute, student have to fill the admission form either online through the official website of the Birla Institute of Technology – Mesra, Ranchi at www.bit-annauniv.com or else they can directly get the form filled from the institute.
The online application process is easy as the candidate has to log onto the portal and then give some basic information to register where they are offered the application form for completion and submission. It is mandatory that the uploaded documents should be in pdf format. The application form for the offline admissions can be obtained from the administrative section of the BIT on paying a specific amount for the form. Each of the application forms must be accompanied by comparable copies of the document originals and should be submitted to offices on or before the due dates. It has merit based system of admissions where the candidate is given admission depending on his or her performance in the qualifying examination. - BIT is under the affiliation of Anna University, Tiruchirappalli and the admission procedure is through the single window TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions).
- For applying for the BTech programs, the candidate must have passed the class XII or its equivalent examination with the main subjects as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Minimum cutoff marks in the 12th exams are also defined so that students can get the desired specialization or not.
- Moreover, candidates are required to sit for the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission test, TNEA, which is conducted by Anna University. Candidates are selected on the basis of merit list depending on the TNEA score and the marks obtained in their +2 examinations.
- It occurs on the merit list and choice filling basis depending on the student’s choice. The distribution of seats is done on the basis of the rank, the category for which the candidate has applied, the preference claimed, and the number of seats available in a specific branch.

8. After obtaining a seat, pay the admission fees in the course of the time that has been set for it as a sign of confirmation.
- One has to take TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) conducted by Anna University to get admission in this university. The TANCET admit card can be accessed by candidates who appear for the entrance test as per the schedule announced.
- Besides TANCET scores, the final selection depends on the candidates’ performances in the group discussion and personal interview held by Bharathidasan Institute of Technology.
- Admissions: The management has the right to admit students and reservation for different categories like SC/ST, etc. mentioned by the Tamil Nadu government. TANCET scores are taken into consideration for merit based on different categories of the students.
- For general category candidates, the required percentage is a minimum of 50 per cent of marks in the relevant Bachelor’s degree. In the case of the reserved categories, the candidates need to secure at least an aggregate of 45%.
