CAU is one of the most prestigious agricultural university for education and research located at Imphal-Manipur. This College was established in 1993 and is accredited by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and this College has got NAAC grade of A with CGPA of 3.02. In the NIRF ranking system of India in 2023, Central Agricultural University was ranked 81st in the list of agriculture universities in the country.  

The university provides the following programmes for the learners, Undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs, and doctoral studies in the area of agriculture. Among the notable degree courses offered are BSc Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science, Fisheries, and Veterinary among others. It is usually in the month of May that the admission is begun while the examinations are conducted in June-July. The selected candidates also then come for counselling sessions before they get admitted. The exams for the 2024 academic year are predicted to be administered in June, 2023.

Placement: The college has been particularly successful in the placement front and many companies including Godrej Agrovet, ITC, Rallis India, UPL limited, NABARD, and NAFED are some of the prominent organizations that visit the campus for recruitment. The training and placement cell of the college arranged placements for the 2022 batch of students with over 80% students getting placements and the maximum salary offered being INR 12 lakhs per annum. The median salary offered to the candidates was estimated to be approximately INR 7 lakhs per annum. The prominent employers of the agriculture graduates are government institutions such as NABARD, NAFED, and private organizations like Mahindra Agri, ITC, Syngenta, etc., and Pubic Sector Units like NAFED and Food Corporation of India. The consistent placements depict a strong testimony to the overall quality education being provided at the university.

Central Agricultural University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. BSc Agriculture (4 years)

The candidates appearing for screening tests must have passed their 10+2 examination in science group and should have obtained minimum 50% marks. Should have studied Physics, chemistry biology or Math. No age limit.

2. MSc Agriculture (2 years)  

For the post fresh BSc Agriculture graduates with at least 50% score are eligible. Faculties such as Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, and other related courses are offered.  

3. BSc Horticulture (4 years)

Minimum requirement is having passed 10+2 science stream with at least 50% for becoming eligible to pursue the course. Physics/ Chemistry/ Biology or Math subjects compulsory. No age bar. 

4. MSc Horticulture (2 years)

Candidate should have bachelor of science degree in horticulture with minimum 50percent marks. Another important aspect that has been catered to is Specializations including Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, Floriculture and many more.

5. In Australia the normal degrees are BVSc and AH which takes five years of study. 

The candidates passing in 10+2 science stream and having at least 50% marks are eligible for this course. Ought to have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Minimum age 17 years.  

6. MVSc (2 years)

BVSc and AH degree with minimum 60%agg Agile requirement needed. These are the degrees offered in various fields of specialization such as Veterinary Surgery, Medicine, Microbiology among others.

The highest salary package that has been offered was of up to Rs. 10 lakhs per annum and the average salary offered lies between Rs. 4-6 lakhs per annum for different branches.
