Central University of Punjab Bathinda - Admission, Courses, Fees & Rankings 2024

Central University of Punjab CUP is a central university established in the year 2009 at Bathinda city in the state of Punjab, India. It was established in 2009 and it is WTEC recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). NAAC accredited CUP in the year 2019 with Grade ‘A’ with CGPA score of 3.26. In the recently released NIRF Rankings 2023, CUP has been placed in the band of 101-150 in the list of universities in India. 

The university has a diverse academic programme in different schools and departments offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. Some of the most sought after faculties include Engineering, Computer Application, Education, Law, Journalism, Pharmaceutical Science, Agriculture, Library Science and so on. The admissions for the following year 2024 will commence in the month of May 2023. The entrance examination has planned in June and the counselling and admission for the respective courses will be done. CUP has a very functional placement and internship cell in which the students get placed in many renowned organizations. As many as 80 or more companies conduct campus recruitment every year whereby the graduating students are offered jobs in engineering, computer applications, management, pharmaceutical sciences & agriculture. Some of the recruiters are Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, IBM, TCS, Dell, Havells, Oberoi group etc 80% of the eligible candidates were placed in previous year through pool campus drives. The maximum salary package is up to Rs. 18 lacks per annum and minimum is Rs. 4-6 lacks per annum. It also increases internship possibilities of the students in various corporates to provide them with experience and better chances of employment after their degree.

Central University of Punjab Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. Bachelor's Programs 

Secured 10+2 or equivalent examination with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST). Aspiring candidates who are awaiting their results can also interest themselves in the positions.

2. Master's Programs

Basic qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with not less than 50% marks for GEN/OBC and 45% for SC/ST. Students who are awaiting their final year results can apply for the scholarship.

3. M.Phil. Programs  

The candidate should have a Master’s Degree in the respective subject with less than 55% marks. Other specializations: Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET/SLET/GATE or who have cleared teacher eligibility test also can apply.  

4. Ph.D. Programs

Candidate should be Master’s degree holder in the relevant subject with minimum 55% marks. Applicants who have cleared the UGC/CSIR NET JRF test or teacher fellowship holder can apply for the given posts.

5. Integrated Programs  

Pass in 10+2 examination with not less than 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) as per NCTE Regulations. For the post, one must have passed or should be appearing in the qualifying examination.

6. Diploma & Certificate Programs

A university degree equivalent ranging from first degree to a bachelor’s degree in any field. Minimum pass marks criteria may vary as per programs, hence the need to check on each individual program offered at the institution.

Central University of Punjab Courses Details 2024

CUP provides the students undergraduate, postgraduate & doctoral courses in science, social science, arts, languages, law education, Engineering & Technology. 

CUP is a large university and it has authorized a number of about 55 programs like BA, BSc, BCom, MA, MSc, MCom, MPhil, LLB, BEd, BE, BTech, MTech, BArch, MArch, PhD etc Some of the popular courses are MBA, MCA, BTech in CSE, MTech, MA in English, MSc in Chemistry, MCom

The fee differs from stream to stream with annual fee of between INR 25000 and INR 125000 for the Undergraduate programs and between INR 30000 and INR 150000 for the Post Graduate programs. Examination fee, Hostel and mess charges, Caution money etc are some of the other charges which are charged. 

Central University of Punjab Placements 2024

The university has a placement cell that helps the candidates to get placed in various companies or get jobs in their respective field. Other large firms which have their charm included in the university are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, and Tech Mahindra. The maximum salary offered in the placement drive for the academic year 2020-2021 was Rs 32,00,000/- which was offered by Microsoft. The average pay scale is about Rs 4000 to Rs 6000 a month or an annual package of Rs 48000 to Rs 72000. Campus recruitment was an active affair in 2021, and out of 1350 eligible students, 945 were placed through campus drives. Companies targeting employment of employees include Information technology service providers, consulting firms, banks, financial institutions and pharmaceutical industries. Computer science, information technology, electronics and business administration streams have topped the list of the departments that the leading recruiting companies target during campus placement at the Central University of Punjab.
