Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) is a central university located at Thiruvarur and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes in arts, science, education law and management etc. The eligibility norms differ by departments – For BA Economics 50% in Class XII, for BSc Physics 55% in Physics, Chemistry & Maths in Class XII, BEd 50% in graduation, LLB 45% in any UG degree, and MBA 50% in graduation. For the UG, CUTN accepts Class 12 state board, CBSE, ICSE as the qualifying exam and for PG, graduation from any university recognized by the university.
CUTN teaches courses in faculties of arts and humanities, science and social science, education, management, and law. Some of the most preferred undergraduate programs are B.A in Economics, Political Science, English, B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics and B.com. Postgraduate courses are MA English, Economics, MSc Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, MCom, LLM, MEd and MBA. The entrance examinations conducted are CUTN Common Entrance Test (CUTN-CET) which is usually in May-June for the UG courses, CUTN-PET for PG in July and interview for MPhil and PhD courses. Application forms are available online on the university website by February-March each year. Applicants who meet the requirements can apply before the date set in April. The students are admitted based on their performance in the entrance test, their previous academic performance and a round of interviews. The admission offer letters are sent out by July for the academic year that starts in August 2024.
The Central University of Tamil Nadu, located at Thiruvarur, has commenced the admission process for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses for the year 2023. Applicants can apply for CUTN admissions online or offline through the website of the university www.cutn.ac.in.
To apply online, you have to visit the CUTN admission portal and enter your details of registration. Choose your preferred program, complete the application form, attach scanned copies of your documents, pay the application fee, and submit. In the case of off-line application, one should download the admission application form from the website. As required, complete it, affix copies of documents needed and submit to the university address not later than the deadline. Application fees can be paid online or by demand draft both.
The steps involved in admission application are: creating an account on the portal, choosing your program of interest, entering your personal information, uploading your documents, making your fees payment and finally submitting your form. - CUTN Thiruvarur provides the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in various fields such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, etc.
- Admission is often based on marks secured in the qualifying examination (like 12th standard examination). There may also be an entrance examination to undertake.

1. In the university website or the advertisement, look for the notice on B.Sc. admission/application. It is usually released around the middle of the year or May/June.
2. Once you see this notification, you can apply online or can find application form online or offline as per the details provided. It is recommended to review the prospectus for any information regarding the eligibility of the candidate and how to apply.
3. Complete the application form in the proper manner and send it before the deadline with the necessary papers and the fee. Tuition fee is usually about Rs. 300 as an application fee. Documents are 10th and 12+2 mark sheets, community certificate if any, etc.
4. If applying online – you have to register on the portal, fill the form, attach the necessary documents, pay the fee, and submit the form. If offline, you are required to complete the printed application and forward it to the address stated above.
5. This can be done when the admission list is released by the university to know its status. If shortlisted, attend a counseling session according to the given date and time.
6. Go for counseling, select your B.Sc. specialization (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, etc.), complete admission formalities and document verification.
7. Go to the college and pay the admission fee to secure your admission in B.Sc. program at CUTN Thiruvarur within stipulated date.

- Students must have passed the CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test) test for the admission in the MBA program held by the University.
- The shortlisted candidates are expected to undergo a group discussion and personal interview round. The candidate is finally chosen according to the performance in CUCET, the group discussion and the interview where CUCET carries a weighted age of 70% while the group discussion and interview carries 30% weightage.
- For SC/ST/OBC category students, there is a concession of 10% in the cut-off marks for the eligibility criteria.
- The candidates from the general category must have minimum 50% of aggregate marks in their respective bachelor degree. For reserved candidates, the minimum percentage is 45%.
- There is no requirement to have work experience in order to be accepted on the MBA program at CUTN Thiruvarur. It is also open to fresh graduates.
- Other than academic aptitude and performance in CUCET, GRE, TOEFL etc the student’s communication skills, general awareness about the subject, analytical and critical thinking abilities etc are measured during the GD/PI phase of the selection process.
